Actively Enrolling - Refractory Chronic Cough Trial

The Lake trial is a phase 2b clinical trial seeking to understand different doses of an investigational treatment, oral nalbuphine ER (extended-release) (NAL ER), and its potential effects on cough in patients with Refractory Chronic Cough (RCC).

  • Who Can Join: Patients 18 and older suffering from a persistent cough for at least one year.
  • What to Expect: Participation in this trial will take approximately 13 weeks and include taking an oral study drug (NAL ER or placebo).
  • Where is This Taking Place: Canada, Poland and the United Kingdom.

There is no cost to participate. You will be reimbursed for your time and trial-related expenses such as transportation costs and meals. In the Lake Trial, you will receive trial-related medical care from a dedicated team of healthcare providers.

Is the LAKE Trial Right for You?

To be able to take part in the LAKE trial, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Adults 18 and older
  • Have had a persistent cough for at least one year.

Please note that the above does not include all of the criteria. If you are able to participate, all further procedures will take place at the trial with with the Trial Doctor/Trial Team. the Trial Doctor will tell you if you are able to participate in this trial.

What is a Refractory Chronic Cough?

Refractory Chronic Cough is a persistent cough lasting more than eight weeks that does not get better with most medicines for common causes like asthma, reflux, or allergies. 10% of adults suffer from chronic cough and patients see a number of specialized doctors to help treat this condition.
